PM Marković hosts farewell visit by German Ambassador: Good relations between two countries improved by meeting with Chancellor Merkel
Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted a farewell visit by Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Hans Günther Mattern.
The meeting assessed that the good bilateral relations between the two countries were further enhanced during Ambassador Mattern's term of office and confirmed by the recent official visit of Prime Minister Marković to Germany and a meeting with Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Prime Minister Marković reiterated his commitment that the relations with the Federal Republic of Germany are developing further in a strategic direction, which, in addition to the alliance within NATO, will contribute to the partnership in the process of joining the European Union, as well as the implementation of concrete activities regarding German expert assistance to Montenegro, agreed during the official visit to Berlin.
Informing the Ambassador about the current results of the Government's priority policies, PM Marković highlighted in particular the importance that the Government of Montenegro gives to the strengthening of economic cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany.
"We improved the business climate, which resulted in an increasing interest of German companies for Montenegro," Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the meeting.
PM Marković thanked Germany for its support to Montenegro so far and the overall understanding of the importance of the European future of the region. Emphasising the importance our country attaches to the Berlin Process, Prime Minister Duško Marković underlined that Montenegro is a country that has fulfilled all obligations undertaken within the framework of the Berlin Process.
Ambassador Mattern thanked Prime Minister Marković for excellent cooperation, especially pointing to the fact that the Federal Republic Germany always supported the European integration of Montenegro, and that the strict criteria and requirements for the candidate countries to join the European Union represent an incentive and opportunity to strengthen the partnership.
