"Opinion" of the Venice Commission Serbian Orthodox Church is referring to does not exist

Podgorica, Montenegro (14 September 2018) -- The claim made by the representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church that the Government of Montenegro has hidden from the citizens an alleged opinion of the Venice Commission on the Draft Law on Freedom of Religion is absolutely false.

The lukewarmness and indisputable evil intentions of the false accusation once again demonstrate what some officials of the Serbian Orthodox Church are willing to do in order to keep illegitimate privileges and revenues from the usurped state property of Montenegro.

Officials of the Serbian Orthodox Church fabricated another parapolitical intrigue by setting up the forgery of the opinion of the Venice Commission on the Draft Law on Freedom of Religion to the public

It is true that not only has not the opinion of the Venice Commission been delivered to the Government of Montenegro, but also it has never been drafted at all. The document developed by some representatives of the Serbian Ortodox Church is, therefore, a mere forgery.

The Government of Montenegro will, regardless of this dirty campaign initiated by ungrounded claims made by Patriarch Irinej who compared Montenegro with the Independent State of Croatia (NDH), remain committed to safeguarding state interests, with full respect for the freedom of religion and equality of all religious communities in civilian Montenegro.

The Venice Commission stated that there is no opinion whatsoever on the Draft Law on Religion. LINK: http://www.venice.coe.int/webforms/events/?id=2644
