Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System, Milutin Simović, today opened the jubilee 40th Civil Engineering Fair in Budva, the 13th Water Fair - Water Supply and Sanitation Technology and the 6th Energy Fair. Country partner of the fair is the People's Republic of China.

DPM Simović thanked the Minister of Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China Li Ganjie on a visit to Montenegro, and on the support provided by the Government of the People's Republic of China in order to present China at this Fair as a Country Partner and as a country with which Montenegro has traditional friendly relations.

"The participation of exhibitors from 18 countries is a confirmation of the attractiveness of the Montenegrin construction sector, the overall economy and investment potential of Montenegro", DPM Simović said. "Continuous trends in the growth of construction activity clearly show the growing interest of domestic and foreign investors in the Montenegrin market and confirm that the Government's efforts to improve the business environment bring concrete results in the direction of maintaining dynamic economic growth, creating new jobs and improving the quality of life of citizens", DPM Simović stressed.

The Deputy Prime Minister Simović was particularly pleased with the fact that he is the bearer of the presentation of the People's Republic of China at this year's Fair, the Chinese company CRBC, the Montenegrin partner and the main contractor for the construction of the first section of the Bar - Boljare highway. The project for the construction of the highway significantly contributed to the growth of the Montenegrin economy, which was one of the largest in Europe last year. Certainly, the most significant positive economic effects of the construction of the highways are expected by its completion and connection with key European transport corridors, markets and emission tourism zones. "With more efficient and modern road connections, we will make Montenegro transport, logistics and trade hubs in Southeast Europe, and significantly improve traffic safety and security, reduce the number of traffic accidents and increase travel comfort. The highway will contribute to our economy moving even more strongly towards our integration path - to Europe!",  DPM Simović emphasised.

The confirmation that the Government of Montenegro is on the right path is  report of relevant international institutions and organisations, primarily the International Monetary Fund, which in this year, in the year of intensive works on the first share and the planning of the construction of the next ones, noted that the Montenegrin economy has a good effect, that the financial sector has been improved, that the efforts of the Government of Montenegro in the fiscal adjustment process bring results, that the macroeconomic prospects are stabilized.

DPM Simović said that Montenegro and the organisation of such international events confirm that its economy is open to the global market to encourage competition, which creates quality and contributes to development.

"We are not advocates of protectionism and closure, but openness and partnership, which is best confirmed by investors from 113 countries operating in Montenegro," DPM Simović concluded and wished many participants of the Fair a lot of success.
