Eighth meeting of Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security will take place in Podgorica on 25 and 26 September

The eighth meeting of the Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security will take place in Podgorica on 25 and 26 September.

The meeting will be opened by the Chief Negotiator Aleksandar Drljević and head of the Unit for Montenegro at the EC's Directorate-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Thomas Hagleinter.

The meeting will address the reform of the judiciary and fundamental rights, and the progress made in the fight against corruption and organised crime, the fight against human trafficking, drug prevention, the fight against terrorism and anti-radicalisation will be discussed. The issue of migration and asylum, border management and visa policy will also be discussed.

In all areas, emphasis will be on aligning national legislation and the institutional framework with EU standards, as well as the balance of results achieved, all in the context of meeting the provisional benchmarks set out in chapters 23 and 24.

The meeting will be held in the Old Government Building, starting at 2:30 pm.

On the second day of the Subcommittee, a press conference will be held on Wednesday, September 26. The negotiator for Chapters 23 and 24, Marijana Laković-Drašković and Head of the Unit for Montenegro at the EC Directorate-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Thomas Hagleinter will give the statements to the media.

The press conference will be held in the Old Government Building, starting at 2:00 pm.
