New York the USA (27 September 2018) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković told a meeting of the Socialist International in New York that for more than two decades, a policy based on the values of the Socialist International, namely peace, stability, coexistence, solidarity and multi-ethnic and multi-religious harmony, has been winning majority support in Montenegro.
"This is a basis for our longevity and we are proud of that," the Prime Minister highlighted at the meeting that took place on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.
The Prime Minister underscored that thanks to these values, Montenegro became a NATO member last year and has been successfully negotiating on EU membership for six years.
Speaking about global issues, PM Marković noted that multilateralism is endangered nowadays, and that the principles of solidarity and communion are undermined, adding that efforts are now being made to put nation above common values.
"We think that in multilateralism nations and states do not have to come into conflict, but to merge the values and cultures that connect us. These values and cultures give us new content and new opportunities for us, more freedom for an individual and greater prospects for our countries. Therefore, I confirm my commitment that multilateralism has no alternative," said Prime Minister Duško Marković, adding that there should be strong resistance to those who do the opposite and who want to make this world and our countries the areas where there are no multi-ethnic and multilateral harmony, communion and solidarity.
