USA donates two combat rubber raiding crafts to Montenegro's Navy

Podgorica, Montenegro (11 October 2018) -- At today's session, the Government of Montenegro approved the draft Grant Agreement between the Ministry of Defence of Montenegro and the US Embassy - ​​the Office of Defence Cooperation.

Naval Captain Vesko Tomanović told a press conference following the Cabinet session that the US Embassy has offered a donation of equipment for explosive ordnance disposal(EOD) to the Ministry of Defence of Montenegro in order to provide assistance in training people and building the capacity of the EOD teams of the Montenegrin Navy.

This donation includes two P5.8 two combat rubber raiding crafts, worth around 73,000 USD.

The donation is intended for mine search of the seabed and will not be used solely for military purposes, but also for the needs of hydrographic research, in support of the Department of Hydrography and Oceanography of the Institute for Hydrometeorology and Seismology of Montenegro.

Since 2012, the United States has been continuously supporting Montenegro's Navy. So far, it has donated over one million dollars of equipment used for underwater demining.
