Armed Forces of Montenegro sends 33 members to the TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18 Exercise

Armed Forces of Montenegro contributes with 33 members at a large NATO Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18 which is going to take place from 25th October to 7th November in Norway.
The main part of our forces is the Infantry Platoon of 27 members under the command of Lieutenant Nikola Popović, this Platoon will be part of Slovenian Company.
From the rest of six members, one pilot, logistics NCO, military police member will be in the composition of Slovenian squadron, Slovenian Logistic Company HQ, respectively Slovenian Military Police Company, while two staff officers will be in the Italian Brigade HQ. One officer will be in charge as Evaluator – Controller during the Exercise.
The Infantry Platoon is from the composition of the First Infantry Company from Nikšić. All pertaining equipment is from the First Infantry Company, as well as four vehicles which are already been shipped for the Kingdom of Norway.
The unit is equipped with all necessary equipment for extremely cold conditions and is ready for the execution of tasks on mountain terrains in cold conditions.
The exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 18 will be conducted mostly on the territory of Norway, on land, in the sea and in the air, but it will include also part of the territory of Iceland and well as the air space of Finland and Sweden.
In the exercise will take part approximately 50 thousand solders from the Armed Forces of 31 countries, out of which 29 NATO members, together with Sweden and Finland, as close NATO partners. Then, more than 10 thousand vehicles, about 150 aircraft and 70 ships that will be located in the North Atlantic and the Baltic Sea.
The exercise is commanded by James G. Fogo, Commander of Joint Force Command in Naples, which is responsible for conducting of exercise.
The goal of this, the largest NATO exercise in recent years, is to test the concept of collective defense of the Alliance.
The previous exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE was held three years ago, on the territory of Italy, Spain and Portugal. About 36 thousand soldiers took part in it.
