Podgorica, Montenegro (24 October 2018) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković responded to a question by Predrag Sekulić, MP from the ruling DPS party, about the land valorisation, more precisely the new projects based on long-term leases in the field of agriculture and energy.
PM Marković pointed out that many of the resources we have are valuable and dominantly sustainable and renewable. More than 300 hectares of state-owned agricultural land in the municipalities of Nikšić, Kotor, Ulcinj and Podgorica will be valorised through agricultural production. Based on recently concluded lease agreements in Ulcinj, Kotor and Podgorica, a total of EUR 9.2 million will be invested and 40 new jobs will be opened.
In cooperation with the company "13. jul Plantaže ", through the model of long-term lease, the land of this company of total area of 5,253 ha will be valorised in Podgorica, Bar, Danilovgrad, Bijelo Polje, Berane and Andrijevica.
As far as energy is concerned, the investors are interested in the project of building a solar power plant with a power exceeding 200 megawatts in Briska Gora in Ulcinj. It is an investment worth EUR 170 million and direct budget revenues that will exceed EUR 65 million for a period of 30 years based on the lease of land. This project will create 226 new jobs.
New tenders for the lease of state land are expected, with the aim of building production facilities that will use renewable energy sources. The first in the row will be a tender for the construction of a wind farm in the municipalities of Bar and Budva.
The Prime Minister estimated that Montenegrin energy finally reached a level that allows the construction of new energy sources without financial incentives and state guarantees.
The Prime Minister concluded that the need to valorise every inch of land in a sustainable and efficient way is a clear commitment of the Government, for the good of all citizens of Montenegro.
