DPM Simović at International Conference on Agriculture: Montenegro gathers those who are looking for answers to challenges of modern times
Montenegro was and will be the place of gathering of hardworking, smart and benevolent people looking for answers to the challenges of modern times, not only in the field of agriculture. I think that the need for searching for such and similar answers is the need of both Montenegro and the region, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Milutin Simović said at the International Conference on Agriculture – Green room session 2018 (Geo - Eco - Eco - Agro), which was held at the Ramada Hotel within the Agricultural Equipment Fair.
Simović said that the expectations of this conference are multiple.
The key expectation is how to produce as much food as possible. Another important question is how this food meets the basic standards of health safety and quality. Third, how to protect natural resources in production process, how to use them in a sustainable way and preserve biodiversity and genetic resources. The next one is how to respond to the challenges of climate change. How to make life in the countryside more quality, and to provide a modern concept of countryside development, which is not just agriculture, but the diversification of rural activities. How to answer to global challenges in relation to many diseases and pests. The next is how to develop a modern 20th-century farm, while preserving tradition and heritage. And finally, the expectation of this conference is to make the possible mix of science and profession in search of all these answers, to make it easier for manufacturers, processors and entrepreneurs to increase their competitiveness, productivity, to adopt new standards and improve the position on the market, DPM Simović noted.
