Representatives of US Coast Guard satisfied with the security of Montenegrin ports and vessels
Representatives
of the US Coast Guard (US COAST GUARD), within the framework of the
US-Montenegro International Security Program, held training for representatives
of Montenegrin state and port administration from 29 October to 1 November 2018
with the aim of further enhancing the knowledge of our expert personnel
directly responsible for the application of the ISPS Code (International Ship
Security Ordinance). During the visit, the US Coast Guard visited Kotor, Luka
Bar and Port of Adria.
The US Coast
Guard and US Embassy delegation to Montenegro was received today by the
Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurkovic, together with the
Directorates General for Maritime Economy and Maritime Traffic. Representatives
of the US Coast Guard pointed out that progress has been made in improving the
security of Montenegrin ports and that it is evident that while planning port
investments, we consider that the development of ports and their needs in
perspective corresponds to security standards in line with the ISPS code.
A
continuation of the cooperation was agreed, which was mutually agreed to be
extremely useful and has also significantly contributed to raising the level of
security in our ports, in particular through the recommendations made by the US
Coast Guard during the previous visit and the standards in ports.
