PM Marković: Montenegro will be ready to close six negotiating chapters when Finland takes over EU Presidency

Prime Minister Duško Marković expressed his satisfaction with the highly successful working visit to the Republic of Finland, and noted that Montenegro will be ready to close six negotiating chapters when Finland takes over the EU presidency in the second half of next year.

"I have made it clear to the Prime Minister that Montenegro will be ready to close six negotiating chapters when Finland takes over the EU presidency," PM Marković noted, saying that he was assured that Montenegro would have the support of Finland and its understanding in the European Council.

The Prime Minister stressed that the special focus of today's meetings was on the European agenda of Montenegro and the need to open the Chapter 27 by the end of the year, to create the preconditions for meeting the provisional benchmarks for Chapters 23 and 24 and to obtain the final benchmarks for these chapters.

PM Marković said that encouraging messages emerged from today's working visit and expressed the belief that the Finnish EU presidency will mark a new phase in the negotiating process of Montenegro, which is precisely the opening of negotiation chapters.

"These talks aim not only to bring Montenegro closer to the EU, but also to gain a higher level of trust in Montenegro and new partnerships for Montenegro on its path to the EU," Prime Minister Duško Marković concluded at the end of his working visit to the Republic of Finland.
