Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic received newly appointed British Ambassador David Gowan

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic received today in Podgorica newly appointed British Ambassador in Belgrade David Gowan.
During open and constructive talks, the two officials expressed readiness to continue bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and Great Britain as well as direct cooperation within the framework of Serbia-Montenegro union. Ambassador Gowan pointed out that an important part of his mission referred to Montenegro, to which his country dedicated special attention, as confirmed by the recent opening of the British Office in Podgorica. He emphasized that Great Britain supported the Belgrade Agreement and expressed satisfaction with good relations between Montenegro and Serbia, and the progress made in harmonizing the economic systems and communicating with Brussels. According to Ambassador Gowan, in compliance with the Belgrade Agreement, Great Britain intends to maintain parallel relations with the State Union member countries in the fields of their exclusive competence.
Expressing a preference for the joint journey of Serbia and Montenegro to European integration, he said that London would support any agreement between Belgrade and Podgorica about future relations of the two member countries.
Prime Minister Djukanovic thanked the British Government for the support provided to Montenegro, especially in the initial stage of transition, and introduced Ambassador Gowan with the success made in the implementation of economic and overall reforms, pointing out the indicators that Montenegro was entering a zone of macroeconomic stability.
Djukanovic and Gowan exchanged views on a number of issues of regional importance.
