Press release from 98th Cabinet session

Podgorica, Montenegro (15 November 2018) -- At today's session, the Montenegrin Cabinet passed the Decision on the organisational structure and size of the Armed Forces of Montenegro. The decision adapts the organisational and formation structure of the Armed Forces to the standards for contributing to the collective security system in order to successfully respond to missions and tasks, both within the NATO and for national needs.

The Government adopted the Information on the Presidency of Montenegro over the EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (EUSAIR). The discussion emphasised that the Montenegrin presidency will be focusing on the areas of Blue Growth and Sustainable Tourism, with an emphasis on environmental protection, as well as establishing financial dialogue in countries that are not members of EUSAIR, improving the visibility of the Strategy, strengthening the existing coordination mechanisms at all levels, as well as creating better synergy with other regional initiatives and organisations. The EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Region (EUSAIR) is an innovative instrument for cooperation between EU member states and candidate and aspiring countries from the Adriatic-Ionian region. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Serbia and Slovenia takes part in the implementation of the strategy.


Today's session also passed the Information on necessary conditions for the realisation of the competition for financing NGOs projects and programmes in 2018 in the field of European integration of Montenegro. On this occasion, the Government adopted the conclusions that form the administrative and legal basis for the realisation of the competition.

The Cabinet passed the National Action Plan for Implementation of the Open Government Partnership Initiative 2018-2020. It was concluded that this document, developed by the OGP Operational Team, composed of representatives of state authorities and NGOs, is a step forward towards a more efficient and high-quality public administration.

Montenegro's Government  adopted the Information on the conclusion of the Financing Agreement between Montenegro and the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the implementation of the roads reconstruction project. The loan amounts to EUR 80 million, of which the first part of the approved loan, for which the financing agreement will be signed, is EUR 40 million. The total value of the project is EUR 185 million and the total length of the main roads that will be reconstructed with the funds from this loan is 125 km.

The Government decided to reject the request for the exemption of Darko Radunović, Minister of Finance, from all procedures conducted by the Ministry of Finance - the Administration for Games of Chance, upon the requests of the company "Lottery of Montenegro AD" from Podgorica.
