Interior Minister Nuhodžić: There must be nothing of greater priority than what directly affects security of our countries and citizens

Vienna, Austria (19 November 2018) -- Interior Minister Mevludin Nuhodžić said today in Vienna at a meeting with his counterparts from several countries that cooperation, affirmation of European values and further strengthening of the legal security are the only guarantee of security that will not be threatened by challenges such as organised crime, cyber attacks, illegal migration, terrorism and violent extremism. He stated that Montenegro has recognised the process of accession to the EU as the best way to attain that goal and, that, therefore, it pays considerable attention to strengthening the rule of law, as the best prevention of instability.
"The situation on our continent is unique in recent history when it comes to security challenges: we all face the same or almost the same threats. Only their intensity varies Therefore, we need to use this fact in a way to cooperate even more intensively and, without exception, to implement what we have agreed as quickly as possible, with the highest quality and commitment. Only then can we be effective. There must be nothing of greater priority than what directly affects the security of our countries and our citizens," said Minister Nuhodžić at the conference" European Values, Rule of Law and Security," where he participated at the invitation of Federal Minister of the Interior of Austria Herbert Kickl, sponsored by the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Minister Nuhodžić also noted that global security challenges we face every day request our unity in tackling them.
"We need to act together in order to stop trafficking in human beings, drugs or weapons, or potential terrorists. The answer to these challenges can only be in the cooperation between the states. Challenges are such that if only one link fails - it then becomes the problem of not only one country, but much broader. First of all, Montenegro is a responsible state, consistent in meeting all undertaken obligations. By doing that not only do we protect ourselves but others as well," the Interior Minister underscored.
On the sidelines of the conference, Minister Nuhodžič spoke with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of Belgium Jan Jambon and State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of the Interior Hans-Georg Engelke.
