PM Marković: Tivat is prestigious tourist centre on Mediterranean

Podgorica, Montenegro (20 November 2018) -- Tivat is a prestigious tourist centre not only in Montenegro, but also in the Mediterranean, and improvements in infrastructure will give new quality and incentives to development, said Prime Minister Duško Marković in a meeting with Mayor of Tivat Siniša Kusovac and President of the Municipal Assembly Ivan Novosel.
At the meeting, which took place on the occasion of the Day of the Municipality of Tivat, the Prime Minister wished happy the upcoming holiday, stating that this year in the field of economy is better than the previous one, and that Tivat has made a significant contribution to it.
"The economy grew by 4.8% in the first half of the year, which is among the highest rates of economic growth in the region and Europe. This was not only contributed by tourism, but also by the progress in energy, agriculture, trade, construction," said Prime Minister Marković.
Both sides stressed the importance of further infrastructure construction and airport valorisation, which will be encouraging both for tourists and investors. PM Marković said he is sure that the preconditions for launching a new investment will be created soon, which will include the overhaul of yachts, thus opening a new phase in the development of shipbuilding.
Mayor Kusovac said that he expects the next year to complete the boulevard in Tivat, as well as the road to the settlement of the Luštica Bay tourist resort. He added that significant investments in culture have been made this year as well.
