Montenegro needs to continue pursuing reforms towards maintaining stability of public finances

Brussels, Belgium (22 November 2018) -- The reform efforts of the Government of Montenegro in maintaining stability of public finances and implementation of the measures set out in the fiscal strategy have yielded tangible results. It was concluded at the meeting of the Subcommittee on Economic and Financial Affairs and Statistics in Brussels.

Representatives of the Montenegrin institutions presented to the European Commission the progress of Montenegro in the areas of macroeconomic stability, public finance, financial sector, strengthening the competitiveness of the economy, statistics, internal financial controls and external audits. It was emphasised that Montenegro is making efforts to create a better and more stimulating business environment and for this purpose new activities have been initiated aimed at further development of coordination of regulatory activities and responsibilities of regulators, especially at the local level.
