Istanbul, Turkey (4 December 2018) -- Montenegro's delegation, headed by Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanovic is participating in the 3rd UNWTO/UNESCO World Conference on Tourism and Culture, taking place in Istanbul on 3 - 5 December 2018. Participation in the conference is an opportunity to strengthen relations with the participating countries, exchange experiences and practices in the field of tourism and deepen economic cooperation.
The ministerial session, where Minister Bogdanovic delivered a speech, gathered the ministers of tourism and culture to exchange examples of positive practice with regard to policies that can be networked in order to achieve sustainable development.
Minister Bogdanović stressed the importance of cultural tourism through the aspect of economic benefits that can be achieved in this way, primarily in terms of generating income and creating new jobs, maintaining skills of traditional crafts, revitalising city centres, increasing property values, improving small entrepreneurship, etc.
He emphasised that cultural tourism cannot be treated as a separate and isolated segment, adding that, in cooperation with creative industries, the issue of heritage can be comprehensively addressed and contribute to sustainable development and creation of additional value.
