Prime Minister Duško Marković hosted earlier today a farewell visit by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Montenegro Serhat Galip.
The two officials noted that good political and bilateral relations between Montenegro and Turkey are marked by increased economic cooperation and increased foreign direct investments.
"Montenegro and Turkey are friendly countries, our political understanding is indeed at a high level, and our economic cooperation is strengthening. I am especially pleased with the fact that the trade exchange has significantly increased compared to the previous years," PM Marković emphasised.
He pointed out that it is noticeable that there are more Turkish investors in Montenegro, whose capital is safe. The meeting discussed attracting new investments and starting production in the real sector. Ambassador Galip pointed out that Turkey ranked third in the FDI with EUR 44.3 million, noting the increase in exports from Montenegro to Turkey.
Prime Minister Marković thanked Turkey for its support to Montenegro's strategic commitments, as well as on numerous activities of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) regarding construction of social infrastructure.
The Prime Minister added that after joining NATO, Montenegro and Turkey have the opportunity to cooperate at a higher level within the framework important for wider global security. In this context, Ambassador Galip highlighted that Montenegro's role represent an example in the region and beyond.
