Prime Minister Duško Marković said today at the Questions to the Prime Minister session that there are no similarities between the earlier decision of President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović to give a statement to the Prosecutor's Office and the current decision of Nebojša Medojević, MP, not to respond to the call of the Special Prosecutor, adding that the opposition made the Chief Special Prosecutor an icon when he ordered the detention of members of the DPS.

When asked by Miodrag Lekić, MP, to comment on the alleged existence of double standards when it comes to public statements by President Đukanović and MP Medojević, the Prime Minister said that he was surprised to hear the question about the event from several years ago.

"If you have a problem with President Đukanović, you can discuss it in a public political dialogue or somewhere else," PM Marković said.

The Prime Minister assessed that the statement by President Đukanović in 2013 that certain circles in Belgrade close to the former FRY president Vojislav Koštunica are behind the assassination of Duško Jovanović and Nebojša Medojević's claims at the expense of Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić cannot be equalised.

"President Đukanović responded to the Prosecution's call and went there. Medojević does not want to go there and confirm what he said about Katnić. Where are similarities? There is no similarity. The President went to the Prosecutor’s Office, he does not want to go and say what he said publicly and accused not only Milivoje Katnić as a citizen but Milivoje Katnić as a Special Prosecutor. This is not only the outrageous accusation of him as a citizen, but of the state institution of Montenegro, i.e. the State. If you say that someone is a rapist of a person in the territory of another state, and that state says that there was no such person, never came in or lived there – what is that than a lie, a hoax and false accusation. One must be accountable for such behaviour," the Prime Minister stressed.

Prime Minister Duško Marković recalled that a part of the opposition praised the Chief Special Prosecutor when he ordered the detention of members of the Democratic Party of Socialists.

There is no new information about the murder of Duško Jovanović

Responding to the question whether there is any new information about the murder of the editor-in-chief of the daily "Dan" Duško Jovanović, Prime Minister Marković reminded that one person was prosecuted and sentenced to 19 years in prison.

"It did not stop there, the police continue to undertake actions in order to obtain the information, identification and discovery of other perpetrators and possible instigators of this criminal offense," the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister recalled that the Commission for monitoring the actions of the competent authorities in investigating cases of threats and violence against journalists, the killing of journalists and attacks on media assets created by the Government in 2016 continues its operation.
