New laws increase legal security of citizens, adopt standards of judicial cooperation with EU members, strengthen responsibility of notary's profession
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Zoran Pažin presented today in the Parliament of Montenegro three law proposals that improve the legal safety of citizens, adopt the standards and procedures of the European Union in the field of judicial cooperation in criminal matters and introduce higher standards of public accountability in the work of notaries.
The proposed Law on Verification of Signatures, Manuscripts and Transcripts provides a unique way of handling all legal entities that certify signatures, manuscripts and transcripts, thus providing a higher degree of legal security for citizens.
The proposed Law on Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters with the Member States of the European Union regulates judicial cooperation in criminal matters between Montenegro and the Member States of the European Union.
The adoption of this law will bring to the Montenegrin legal system the most important legal acts of the European Union in the field of judicial cooperation in criminal matters, including as many as 17 directives and other legal instruments of the European Union, thus facilitating the preparation of Montenegrin institutions for functioning in the European institutional system and assuming responsibility after gaining full membership in the European Union. The regulation will unify a package of European legislation in the field of judicial cooperation in criminal matters in one place and define the ways of applying after Montenegro enters the European Union.
Amendments to the Law on Notaries prescribe the obligation of the notary to submit reports on income and property to the Agency for Prevention of Corruption in accordance with the law regulating the prevention of corruption. This legal solution strengthens the responsibility and transparency of the notary's profession.
