Results of investments in transport infrastructure are visible, but period ahead will be even more dynamic

In the transport sector, much could be said, the activities were intense, but on this occasion I would focus on what is most important, first of all for the citizens, the economy in general, but largely for the tourism economy.

In the past two years, 94.15 km of state roads have been reconstructed, 168.6 km of roads have been rehabilitated, the value of works is close to 50 million euros.

Currently, works are being carried out on state road network at 129.44 km, worth 123 million euros.

At every step the progress is visible and in the coming period works will be more intensive.

I would mention the state's investments in the railway system of Montenegro. So, in the next two to three years, the state will invest about 70 million euros, partly from budget funds, partly from donations. On average, the state invests around 23 million euros in the Montenegrin rail system from the budget each year.

I would like to say something about the most important project, the construction of the highway. At this moment we can be satisfied with the dynamics of carrying out the works bearing in mind the initial delays in the realization of the project. Currently, the works are carried out with accelerated dynamics, in this year we have carried out works worth nearly 290 million euros. We are also working on creating the prerequisites for continuing the realization of the next section Mateševo-Andrijevica. I would like to remind you that we applied to European funds for the grant in the amount of 20% of the value of the project, we are talking with the EBRD for an additional 20% and the remaining funds are planned to be provided through a private public partnership.

Another topic is certainly a concession act for Montenegrin airports, which we plan to run at one of the government sessions early next year. There is a huge interest of concessionaires from all over the world, India, South Korea, Turkey, France, about 20 companies are interested in concession over Montenegrin airports.

We are very committed to the maritime sector, and in that part we are implementing activities that must contribute to better utilization of the capacities we have especially in the development phase of Port of Bar and port activities. In addition to the activities that we carry out regarding the capacities of the Port of Bar, which are undoubtedly underutilized, I would like to inform you that Barska plovidba is negotiating with a private partner in the procurement of ferry, we are aware of the importance of this line and we are intensively working on it.
