Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic talked today in Podgorica with Japanese Ambassador to Belgrade Ryuichi Tanabeo.
Djukanovic tanked Ambassador Tanabeo for the support provided by the Japanese government, which resulted in concrete activities and programs in the field of economy, healthcare, education and culture. He stressed that Montenegro was interested in learning from Japans development experience and knowledge, saying that the furtherance of cooperation through the programs conducted by Japanese foreign trade and development agencies, as well as the arrival of two reputable Japanese professors to Podgorica, were important activities to that end.
Prime Minister Djukanovic explained that a special contribution in that respect would be the opening of a permanent representative body of Japan in Montenegro.
In addition, the two officials agreed that there were substantial opportunities for cooperation in the field of tourism and shipping industry and the engagement of Japanese businessmen in Montenegro. In that respect, it was found that the success of the Japanese company Daido-Metal represented an incentive to other Japanese investors to invest in Montenegro.
Ambassador Tanabe acquainted Prime Minister Djukanovic with the intention of the Japanese government to organize this April a ministerial conference in Tokyo dedicated to the maintenance of peace, stability and economic development of the Western Balkans.
The talks were attended by respectable professors of Japanese universities and representatives of the Japanese Agency for Technical Cooperation.
