Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets Director General of UNESCO Koïchiro Matsuura

Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met with Director General of UNESCO Koïchiro Matsuura last night in Podgorica.
At the celebration of the World Press Freedom Day in Belgrade, Director General Matsuura observed that Montenegro had achieved the freedom, independence and pluralism of press, which was an important parameter of democratic development.
Emphasizing that visits and regular interchange of ideas at high level illustrated the quality of cooperation, Prime Minister Djukanovic thanked his guest for numerous activities and projects that had been implemented with support from UNESCO, particularly referring to the preservation of cultural and historical monuments in Kotor.
Prime Minister Djukanovic gave his full support to the initiative to organize a presentation of UNESCOs priority project entitled: Education for All this September in Montenegro. In addition, both officials agreed that the establishment of UNESCO Human Rights Department at the University of Montenegro would represent a significant contribution to projects concerning educational cooperation.
With regard to regional cooperation, Prime Minister Djukanovic and General Director Matsuura placed particular emphasis on the Scutari Lake Biodiversity and Cultural Monument Preservation Project.
