Announcement: Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Serbia-Montenegro Michael Polt

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met today in Podgorica with newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Serbia-Montenegro Michael Polt. That was Ambassador Polts first visit to the Republic of Montenegro after his recent appointment to this responsible position.
The two officials exchanged their views on current situation in Montenegro, relations within the State Union and situation in the Western Balkans.
President Djukanovic acquainted Ambassador Polt with the efforts invested by the Government of Montenegro and the achievements in socio-economic reforms, particularly in the field of state administration, local governance, legislation, judicial system, public security and asserted that the country was determined to pursue the same course. He expressed gratitude for the support the United States of America provided to democratic processes and overall reforms in Montenegro.
Ambassador Polt stressed the readiness of the United States of America to make considerable efforts to promote the relations and cooperation both with Montenegro and Serbia-Montenegro union. He particularly emphasized his readiness to encourage American companies to develop the cooperation and invest in Montenegros economy, with the emphasis on supporting private initiative.
Prime Minister Djukanovic and Ambassador Polt expressed the conviction that the fruitful cooperation would continue and strengthen still further to the mutual satisfaction.
In the afternoon, the Pirme Minister and the US Ambassador inaugurated the border-crossing Sitnica, which was constructed with the financial assistance from the US Government.
