Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met today with the delegation of the European Investment Bank, lead by the former head of its Serbia-Montenegro department Massimo dEufemia

Deputy prime ministers Jusuf Kalamperovic and Miroslav Ivanisevic, as well as ministers of finance and maritime affairs Igor Luksic and Andrija Lompar had separate meetings with the EIB representatives.

The meeting participants expressed their satisfaction with the level of cooperation in the past three years, and the IEB representatives stressed that the Bank was ready to provide new credit support to infrastructure projects in local communities, road and railroad reconstruction and construction of healthcare and educational facilities in Montenegro. The European Investment Bank has so far provided Montenegro with 78 million worth of credits, 6 million of which have been used for the reconstruction of the main breakwater in the Port of Bar, while the implementation of the remaining projects, worth 72 million, is under way.

The EIB delegation paid visits to Montenegrin Railways Public Enterprise, Montenegrin Airports, Road Directorate and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Transport, those institutions being the beneficiaries of the construction works sponsored by the EIB.

Those credits are said to represent an important precondition for the furtherance and conclusion of works on the approach roads to Sozina Tunnel, reconstruction of the highway and railroad from Podgorica to the north of Montenegro, as well as the reconstruction of Podgorica and Tivat Airports and facilities of the Electric Power Industry of Montenegro.
