Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met with the Russian Duma delegation headed by Deputy Chairman Sergei Baburin

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met today in Podgorica with the Russian State Duma delegation, headed by Deputy Chairman Sergei Baburin. The delegation comprised Boris Bikinin, Chairman of the Russian-Belarussian Security Committee, Oleg Zizu, Chief of Staff of the Security Committee, and Yuri Bychkov, the Russian Federations Consul General to Montenegro.

The meeting participants expressed their satisfaction with the level of traditional friendship between the Republic of Montenegro and Russian Federation and pointed out the possibilities for the promotion of cooperation, first and foremost, in the field of industry, science, technology, education and culture.

Prime Minister Djukanovic acquainted his guests with the social and economic situation in the Republic, with the results the Government and other relevant institutions achieved in reforming economy, state administration, security structures, educational system, etc. He also informed them about the relations within the State Union.

Prime Minister Djukanovic recognized the importance of Russian efforts and achievements regarding social and economic reforms and economic stabilization, as well as its constructive contribution to contemporary international relations.

This being his first visit to Montenegro, Duma Deputy Chairmen Baburin informed the Prime Minister about the activities of the State Duma, his years-long engagement in the region, and Russian interest in promoting peace and stability in the region. Expressing satisfaction with his visit, he stressed that he would continue to strive for the development of broad cooperation between the two nations.
