RCC Workshop on Mapping Research Infrastructure in Ulcinj

Published on: Mar 15, 2019 9:53 PM Author: Ministry of Science
In cooperation with the Ministry of Science, the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) is organising a Workshop on Mapping Research Infrastructure, which will take place in Ulcinj, on 8 April 2019, a day before the Science and Innovation 2030 Vision for the Western Balkans Forum (http://podgoricki-klub.me/1st_conf.php).

The goal of the Workshop is to map the existing research infrastructure in the Western Balkans region, based on the obligations arising from the Multi-annual Action Plan for a Regional Economic Area (MAP REA), with a view to strengthening regional cooperation in this area, as well as to identify gaps and potential for joint activities on enhancing the infrastructure.

The specific goals of the workshop are the following:

1. To support the economies in the process of initiating and carrying out the process of mapping of existing research infrastructure by providing practical examples, in particular from Montenegro and Serbia, and

2. To open the discussion on opening the existing research infrastructure in the region to ensure transparent and accessible information to researchers interested in cooperation with and in the Western Balkans.

Further details about the workshop are available here: https://www.rcc.int/events/1272/mapping-research-infrastructure-in-the-western-balkans.

Previously, in 2015, Montenegro became the first country in the region to have passed the national Research Infrastructures Roadmap (valid until 2020). Because of the new financial instruments for research and innovation, as well as large infrastructural projects, such as the South East European International Institute for Sustainable Technologies (SEEIIST), the Ministry of Science has launched the process of revising the Roadmap for a two-year period (2019-2020), with an expert to be hired for equipment mapping as well.
