Podgorica, Montenegro (7 April 2019) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković congratulated, on behalf of the Government and on his own behalf, the members of the Roma community and the Roma Association of Montenegro on the International Roma Day.

"The ambiance of the overall cohesion and social harmony makes our country set an example in the region and beyond. The Roma Day is an opportunity to once again emphasise that the Government is committed to creating a high-quality institutional framework for advancing the status of minorities, and that Montenegro is recognised as a country that implements high international standards in this area," the congratulatory letter reads.

The Prime Minister recalls that in December last year, apartments for 171 families from Konik 1 camp were provided, whereby we closed the largest collective centre in Montenegro after 18 years.

"It is an opportunity to state that we have just passed a document establishing measures and activities aimed at upgrading the status of members of the Roma community in the fields of education, employment, culture and identity protection," said Prime Minister Duško Marković in a congratulatory letter to the Roma community on the occasion of the International Roma Day.
