As of today, the University of Montenegro has another facility to offer – an Interactive Space that is intended for students of the University of Montenegro who were awarded scholarships for doctoral studies. The common space was opened by Prof. Dr. Danilo Nikolić, Rector of the University of Montenegro, and Dr. Sanja Damjanović, Minister of Science, who presented the doctoral candidates with cards that enable access to the Interactive Space.
With the support of the Government of Montenegro, the Ministry of Science has launched a number of instruments aimed at effective transition to a knowledge-based society and economy. This path is not easy or unidirectional, and requires cooperation between the universities and the ministry.
“I would point to one of the instruments that gathered us here today – the attractive scholarships for doctoral candidates, which are very similar to those offered in the European Union”, Minister Damjanović said, adding that the Ministry of Science allocated EUR 750,000 last year for scholarships for 19 doctoral students, 16 of whom from the University of Montenegro.
“This year, the Ministry of Science plans to increase this critical mass for another 16 students as we are aware that human resources are our biggest capital”, the minister said.
This way, the cooperation between the ministry and the university has resulted in the opening of the Interactive or Working Space as a facility that provides students with a pleasant working environment, in which their ideas will be implemented in the best possible way.
The funds for this purpose have been allocated through the HERIC programme, which is supported by the Government of Montenegro.
“I hope that we will have more similar spaces in the future. As part of our continued cooperation with the University of Montenegro, the Ministry of Science plans to open a Science and Technology Park in the university campus, as a multiplied space underpinning not only new ideas, but also the values that our society needs”, Minister Damjanović concluded.
