For second year in a row, the Ministry of Science is announcing a Call for Applications for attractive scholarships for doctoral research at Montenegrin universities in 2019/2020.

The present Call aims to strengthen human resources for research, innovations and competitiveness, as well as to increase the number of young researchers at Montenegrin universities, facilitate knowledge exchange between the academic and the business sector, and to internationalise research work.

Within the scholarship programme, the students are expected to achieve significant results, cooperate intensively with the research team, strengthen the links between the research team and international or business partners via mobility, as well as to enhance the capacities needed to apply for EU funds for research and innovations.

The Call is intended primarily for young people who wish to further direct their career at research activities or to promote the knowledge needed in economy by utilising applied doctoral research and mobility in prominent institutions abroad (for a minimum of three months during the scholarship). Mobility during the scholarship can also be implemented in companies, abroad or in Montenegro.

The Ministry of Science is planning to announce these calls continuously, developing a pool of 50 young researchers over the period of three years, who will develop professionally at universities within the programme.

The scholarship covers monthly personal subsistence costs in the amount of EUR 700.00, as well as the costs of research up to EUR 10,000.00 annually for research and mobility, with scholars being exempted from the tuition fee for the duration of the scholarship.

The application process takes place in two stages:

The first stage is the mandatory registration of interest at the “Scientific Network” portal of the Ministry of Science, which can be done from the day of announcement of the Call until 10 June 2019.

The interested candidates – doctoral students and thesis advisors must register in the “Scientific Network” portal within the stipulated timeframe in order to be eligible for application in the second stage.

The second stage of the application process is the submission of applications to the Ministry of Science by 25 June 2019, by 14:00.
