Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic meets Ambassador Theodor Winkler, Director of Geneva Center for Democratic Control of Armed Forces

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met today in Podgorica with Ambassador Theodor Winkler, Director of Geneva Center for Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), who participated in the meeting of the Defense and Security Committee of the Cetinje Parliamentary Forum from 28th to 30th this month.
Prime Minister Djukanovic informed Ambassador Winkler of the current political and economic situation as well as with Montenegros development and foreign policy priorities. In addition, the Prime Minister acquainted his guest with the relations within the State Union, the problems in its functioning and Montenegros position regarding future relations between the two member states.
Ambassador Winkler expressed interest and understanding for the presented views. He informed the Prime Minister of the activities of the Geneva Center, explaining that it was an institution comprising experts from nearly fifty European and non-European countries, conducting research and education programs and providing assistance in specific projects in the domain of civil control of defense forces and security, boarder protection, etc. He said that the Center had good cooperation with Montenegro over the past two years and expressed the readiness and interest to improve it, particularly in the context of the requirements imposed by regional developments.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the Government and competent authorities of the Republic of Montenegro were interested in further cooperation with the Geneva Center, both in the process of preparing institutions for regional and Euro-Atlantic integration and in specific projects and the transfer of experience regarding defense and security sector, struggle against cross-border crime, the training of personnel for those purposes, etc.
