Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met today in Podgorica with Hungarian Ambassador to the State Union Jozsef Pandur, who is making an official visit to Montenegro.

The talks dealt with bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, current developments in Montenegro, relations within the State Union and European and Euro-Atlantic prospects of its member states.

It was found that years-long top-level political dialogue between the two countries resulted in increasingly practical forms of cooperation, particularly in the field economy. The visit of Hungarian President Frerenc Madl this September made a notable contribution to this end. Agriculture, tourism, transport, telecommunication and education were recognized as particularly interesting fields of cooperation.

Prime Minister Djukanovic informed his guest of the current results of the comprehensive social and economic reform and this years economic policy. He also made reference to relations within the State Union, problems in its functioning and Montenegros endeavor to redefine the relations between the member states.

Ambassador Pandur expressed interest and understanding for the presented views. He said the Hungarian Government and business entities were ready to promote different aspects of bilateral cooperation and announced further top-level dialogue, hoping that Hungarian partners would have success in specific projects in Montenegro.

Further cooperation with the Republic of Hungary is very important both to political and business entities in Montenegro, in consideration of the forthcoming European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the process successfully completed by Hungary. During the process, Hungary has offered practical assistance in education and expertise in the implementation of transition projects and integration into European and a wider global community.

Both parties hope for the development and strengthening of the current bilateral relations by introducing new aspects of cooperation, which is supposed to be encouraged by this visit.
