PM Marković at PMQs: Government does not introduce populist measures but leads policy whose benefits citizens feel

"The Government does not introduce populist measures or make swift decisions. The economic policy we implement, combined with responsible fiscal analysis and social dialogue, has been transformed into benefits that are felt by every citizen, and in every Montenegrin home," Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the Prime Minister's Questions.

When asked by Parliamentary Club of the Democratic Party of Socialists to evaluate the social dialogue that the Government has with trade unions and employers on the issue of several systemically important solutions, the Prime Minister said that almost 18,000 citizens have been employed since the beginning of the mandate of this Government and that we jointly testify every day for the improvement of the overall social infrastructure , which facilitates the functioning, but also contributes to the quality of life of each individual and each family.

"Alongside the motorway that is a historic and grand development project, we build or reconstruct hundreds of kilometers of other roads every year; we reconstructed and built dozens of schools, kindergartens, renovated health facilities; built new agricultural facilities and opportunities, improved energy and communal infrastructure to local waterworks. The number of employees and pensioners who have resolved the housing issue is also impressive. Therefore, all this is the result of the economic growth we are talking about," the Prime Minister stressed.

Speaking about social dialogue, Prime Minister Duško Marković said that Montenegro is one of the few countries whose Constitution prescribes the existence of the Social Council, which harmonizes the interests of employees, employers and the State.

"In the past 11 years of the work of the Social Council, we made major breakthroughs in the field of social dialogue, respecting the needs of our employees, pensioners and citizens in general. And that means established trust with our economic and social partners, and the strength of our society lies precisely in dialogue, co-operation and cohesion aimed at a common goal - that is, the better life of Montenegrin citizens. The whole set of laws was made and harmonized with the social partners. You discussed and decided about them in this Parliament. Through the social dialogue, the Law on Amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, the Labour Law and other acts are being harmonized at the moment. We want to provide adequate and stimulating environment for our citizens and their standard," Prime Minister Marković emphasized.

Reflecting the legal provisions defined in the dialogue in the Social Council, the Prime Minister said that the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance provides for solutions that will re-examine the legal requirements for early retirement; that the new Labour Law is the result of a high degree of consensus among the Government, employers and employees, and that through its application, the position of employees and their rights will be improved, and that the amendment of the Law on Contributions for Compulsory Social Insurance will reduce the rate of health insurance contributions paid by the employer for two percentage points.

"We are committed to improving the business environment as it is important to provide new investments, open new jobs and opportunities for our citizens to gain new knowledge and skills in a modern business environment," Prime Minister Duško Marković said at the Prime Minister's Questions.
