Today in Podgorica, Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic welcomed a delegation of the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation, headed by Foundation President Stephen Heintz.
The meeting exchanged views on the implementation of Montenegros sustainable development concept, with particular focus on sustainable tourism development, which was the topic of the conference the UNDP and the Government of Montenegro organized last year in New York.
Representatives of the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation observed that the Montenegrin government policy should place even more emphasis on environmental protection and valorization, arguing that such commitment would be good publicity for the state of Montenegro, bringing prosperity to its citizens and to the country as a whole.
Prime Minister Djukanovic thanked his guests for their support and informed them that Montenegro would insist on the sustainable development concert, in compliance with the constitutional provisions referring to the ecological state and a number of international treaties Montenegro had signed. By the same token, he pointed out that the Government of Montenegro would make every effort to secure adequate valorization of natural resources through a balanced strategy, particularly in the northern and central part of the Republic, without impeding free economic development and, consequently, higher standard of living of Montenegrin citizens.
