PM Marković wishes happy Eid al-Fitr: Montenegro's multi-religious and multi-cultural society is united in diversity, and its asset is based on it

Podgorica, Montenegro (3 June 2019) – On behalf of the Government and in his own name, Prime Minister Duško Marković congratulated Reis of the Islamic Community in Montenegro Rifat Fejzić and the citizens of the Islamic faith on Eid al-Fitr.

"Days of Eid al-Fitr as a days of joy represent a festival for the citizens of Islamic faith, and a nice occasion for all the others, because the multi-religious and multi-cultural society of Montenegro is united in diversity, and its spiritual asset is based on it," PM Marković stressed.

Prime Minister Marković wished that the timeless values of Eid al-Fitr encourage believers and all benevolent people to overcome any misunderstanding in the spirit of forgiveness and friendship and to contribute to better Montenegro with the neighbours and friends and close people as a great family – for the present and future generations.

"By strengthening the rule of law, and primarily through new normative solutions, the Government will try to further establish the cultural identity and traditions of our country, and guarantee every citizen the right to freedom of religion as an indispensable democratic value," the Prime Minister's congratulatory letter reads.
