Today, during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Greece Prokopis Pavlopoulos to our country, the Minister of the Interior of Montenegro Mevludin Nuhodžić and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece Georgios Katrougalos signed the Protocol between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the Republic of Greece on the implementation of the Agreement between Montenegro and the European Community on readmission (return and admission) of persons staying without a residence permit.

The Protocol specifies the competent authorities in charge of the implementation of the Protocol, the border crossing points at which the return and admission of persons will be made, as well as the procedures for submitting and delivering responses to the requests for readmission and transit, the prescribed manner and modalities of transport, return and transit with escort, additional funds for proving citizenship, as well as the language of communication between the competent authorities.

We recall that the Action Plan for Negotiation Chapter 24 - Justice, Freedom and Security, as one of the obligations, envisages the initiation of negotiations with the aim of concluding implementing protocols with the EU Member States with which Montenegro has no signed protocols for the implementation of the readmission agreement of persons staying without a residence permit.
