Nuhodžić-Ozan: Strengthening the cooperation and continuation of Turkey’s support to our country

As it did on the path of NATO integration, Turkey will continue to support the further development of our country in the upcoming period, this was said the first official meeting of Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić and newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Montenegro, Songul Ozan.

During the meeting, the interlocutors noted that the cooperation of the two friendly countries is very good, especially in terms of internal affairs, through agreements and intensive police cooperation and emergency management activities. Of special importance, the minister said, is the assistance of the Turkish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (TIKA), which carries out projects in various areas in Montenegro.

The meeting was an opportunity for the Minister to address the recent visit to the Republic of Turkey, when he met with his colleague Suleyman Soylu and signed the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Emergency Management, and discussed strengthening cooperation in the field of combating organized and other forms of crime, as and on joint activities on combating illegal migration and terrorism.

Ambassador Ozan thanked Montenegro for its support to the challenges Turkey is facing in terms of illegal migration and terrorism, and praised police cooperation, especially in the area of information exchange between the two Interpol. She expressed her willingness to contribute to further improvement of relations in the upcoming period, through the initiation of new projects and activities that will benefit both countries.

It was jointly concluded that the Montenegrin diaspora in Turkey, which is actively advocating for the strengthening of bilateral relations, especially at the economic level, in the field of tourism and agriculture, makes a significant contribution to the quality of relations between the two countries. Montenegrin students studying at prestigious Turkish universities also give special impetus to strengthening relations, which contributes to the promotion of higher education and overall interstate relations.
