PM Marković tells Democratic Front: You should forget once and for all about returning Montenegro under someone else's protectorate

Podgorica, Montenegro (26 June 2019) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković told Milan Knežević, MP, during the Prime Minister's Questions session in the Parliament, that he has the right to complain about the referendum his option lost, but that he should forget about doubts about the restoration of Montenegro's independence and the desire to return Montenegro under someone else's protectorate.

Answering the question about an eavesdropped conversation from the pre-referendum period that has been recently become public, the Prime Minister said that there are no elements that would change the general picture of the referendum on the restoration of Montenegro's state independence - a venture that can set an example to others - when the citizens voted and, with a pen in their hand, regained their country.

The Prime Minister said that if somebody initiated today the issue of a referendum on the state status of Montenegro, provided that such a senseless initiative was launched, the condition of the international community would be defined with a threshold of 65% for a different decision.

"Imputations by intelligence circles, or their parts, as the case you mentioned, are nothing but new confirmations that the citizens of Montenegro in 2006 made the right decision to be on their own, and that the decisions concerning our country are reached in Montenegro, and nowhere else," Prime Minister Duško Marković stressed.
