PM Marković: Some persons have double standards – they advocate preserving olive groves, but they also illegally build facilities

Podgorica, Montenegro (26 June 2019) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković told during the Prime Minister's Questions session in the Parliament that the Government, because of the circumstances that exist in the Municipality of Ulcinj and the importance of that city for the tourism and economy of Montenegro, insisted that the first planning document adopted during this Government's mandate should be the Spatial Urban Plan of the Municipality Ulcinj, but that some persons have double standards: they advocate preserving the olive groves in Valdanos, and at the same time illegally build business or private facilities.

Answering the question from the Club of MPs of the Bosniak Party, the coalition "Shqiptaret and Vendosur - Albanians Decisively" – Forca, DUA and AA and the Croatian Civil Initiative about the return of property to owners in Valdanos Bay, the Prime Minister said that the planned solutions that foresaw the construction of large tourist capacities are revoked, and then the site of Valdanos was completely banned from the construction of residential and tourist facilities – and this area is reserved exclusively for the needs of olive growing and partly for the sports and recreation.

"The State will remain determined in order to preserve the territory of the olive groves in Valdanos and use all legal means to punish the perpetrators and stop the devastation of the area," Prime Minister Duško Marković answered the question of MP and Vice-President of the Parliament of Montenegro Genci Nimanbegu.
