Rožaje, Montenegro (1 July 2019) -- The Government is persistent in implementing development projects that represent new value and momentum of Montenegro’s economy. It is specifically committed to the development of the northern region, but also local government itself has to tackle challenges facing and it needs to propose new projects, Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković told on Monday in Rožaje the municipal leadership, headed by President of Municipality Ejup Nurković and President of the Municipal Assembly Almir Avdić.

"The Government's efforts are focused on what is state commitment – implementation of the development projects. Without development projects, there is no progress. For two years, we have invested huge funds in it. We are focused on the North and on the improvement of citizens' life standard," the Prime Minister pointed out and drew attention to the issue of local government's employees who do not receive regular salaries. "With no regular salaries, you cannot motivate employees and effective public companies," the Prime Minister noted.

Deputy Prime Minister Rafet Husović requested the municipal leadership to propose to the Government a model to overcome the current situation, stressing that a common goal should be that employees in the local authority and public companies receive a regular monthly income from 1 January next year.

The meeting also discussed the new projects that should contribute to the creation of better conditions for business development, such as the Business Zone. In that regard, DPM Husović urged the local authorities to initiate new projects and if it is necessary to engage external experts that would contribute to faster and better resources valorisation.

Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Osman Nurković, directors of the Public Works Directorate Rešad Nuhodžić and the Administration for Inspection Affairs Alija Košuta also attended the meeting.
