DPM Simović hosts Minister of Energy of Bulgaria Temenuzhka Petkova

Podgorica, Montenegro (1 July 2019) -- Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Financial System Milutin Simović hosted earlier today Minister of Energy of Bulgaria Temenuzhka Petkova. 

DPM Simović and Minister Petkova noted that Montenegro and Bulgaria maintain traditional friendly relations and intensive contacts at all levels. The meeting confirmed the readiness of the two countries to work stronger towards boosting economic and trade cooperation, especially in the areas of tourism, agriculture, energy and transport. 

DPM Simović informed Minister Petkova about the projects that Montenegro has been implemented in the energy area in the previous period, as well as the projects that are being implemented, which will improve Montenegro’s energy structure and contribute to the even stronger economic development. He emphasised that Montenegro has created a stable and predictable legal framework that is in full compliance with the EU legislative framework.
  
Deputy Prime Minister Simović used this opportunity to thank Bulgaria for the support provided to Montenegro in the process of negotiations with the EU and during the process of joining NATO. 

Minister Petkova highlighted that the issue of EU enlargement to the Western Balkans is not only in the interest of Montenegro and the region, but also Bulgaria and the EU itself. In that regard, Minister Petkova congratulated Montenegro on the results achieved in the negotiation process and confirmed that Bulgaria will continue to be a reliable partner to Montenegro and advocate its EU membership. 

Minister Petkova emphasised that Bulgaria wants to find the best model of cooperation with Montenegro in the field of energy, bearing in mind great potentials of the two countries that are being opened thanks to the ongoing infrastructure projects and the fact that Montenegro is becoming an important energy hub in the region, and Bulgaria is becoming increasingly important energy exporter. 

DPM Simović and Minister Petkova agreed on the need to consolidate and expand mutual ties between business communities of the two countries, create successful partnerships and conditions for boosting the balanced trade exchange.
