Podgorica, montenegro (2 July 2019) -- At today's session, chaired by Prime Minister Duško Marković, the Collegium for Negotiations on the Accession of Montenegro to the European Union defined new tasks aimed at further improving the negotiation process in line with the fact that the intensive continuation of the EU accession process, together with the high-quality fulfillment of the recommendations from this year's European Commission's report, is a strategic priority of the Government of Montenegro.

Every month, meetings of the Collegium for EU Negotiations will take place after the meetings of the Rule of Law Council and the meetings of negotiating groups for individual chapters that will be held once a month, which will be rationalised in accordance with new dynamics and efficiency in order to provide high-quality and concrete results in tackling the recognised challenges.

In the continuation of the negotiation process, it is necessary to undertake activities even more visible to the public and to present more effectively all EU projects, the session of the Collegium for EU Negotiations noted.

It was decided that by the end of the month, a meeting of representatives of the Government and the civil sector will take place to address current challenges and harmonise further activities with a view to join forces of all the segments of society in the process of European accession.

Collegium for Negotiations with EU took a unique position that Montenegro, regardless of the current challenges facing the European Union, remains committed to the European integration process because the European Union is not a goal in itself, the goal is to jointly implement reforms that will lead to the achievement of European standards and higher quality of life of citizens of Montenegro.
