Since 2015, the year of its establishment, the OCC 112 system has been continuously developed, and the existence of this unique European Emergency Number is important from the point of view of security, and because of the many tourists coming to Montenegro, said today in response to the question of MP Maja Bakrač, the Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić.

The Minister reminded that calls to number 112 are free and that the service is available 24 hours in several languages, informed that during the past year, OCC 112 received 105395 calls, and that in 8 333 cases it was necessary to activate some of the emergency services - emergency medical assistance, firefighters-rescuers, the police and other specialist and emergency services.

It is planned that in the upcoming period, in agreement with mobile operators, when entering Montenegro, a welcome message with information on the existence of the number 112, as well as the launch of the mobile application 112, will be shown to tourists, which will include all data, from the weather forecast, help on roads, and reports of certain events, announced the Minister. "As for further improvement of the 112 system, through the upgrading of software and hardware components, we will get two new services: automatic mobile location and automatic reporting of traffic accidents, if the vehicles possess this system," said Minister Nuhodžić, adding that the quality work of the OCC 112 requires permanent the investment of material and technical means, training and personnel training of officials and that Montenegro is ready to invest and develop the mentioned service for the benefit of all.

"I believe that the establishment of the OCC 112 justified the expectations, that the protection and rescue system got a very important and reliable segment which, in addition to being at the disposal of the citizen of Montenegro, is extremely important from the point of view of tourists who are staying in our country," said the Minister.

Answering the question of MP Tarzan Milošević about the activities for improving the personnel, infrastructure and technical equipment of border crossing points, Minister Nuhodžić said that the Ministry of the Interior takes all measures to improve the infrastructure at the border crossing points, in order to simplify the procedures for crossing the state border, especially during the summer tourist season.

In that sense, as the Minister pointed out, concrete activities were undertaken with border services of neighboring countries in order to harmonize traffic and ensure higher frequency at border crossing points. "However, we are aware that the security of the border and the fulfillment of the Schengen standards we aspire to make it impossible to avoid certain crowding and longer retention during the season," he added.

Regarding the improvement of the border infrastructure, the Minister said that the purchase of computers with access to police databases, sets for verifying documents and other specialist equipment was carried out, and that by installing video surveillance with the recognition of license plates at all border crossing points, the border control system was improved, which will shorten the retention time at border crossing points. Speaking about the plans for the next period, Minister Nuhodžić pointed out that for this year, the beginning of the construction and reconstruction of the border crossing points Ranče, Vraćenović and Šćepan Polje is envisaged, and it is planned to purchase new mobile readers of documents, detectors and the system of automatic reading of documents at the Podgorica Airport.
"Overall, only from the Sector Budget Support, in the area of Integrated Border Management and Schengen, this year, eight million euros will be invested. All of this will affect the faster flow of people, but also increase the safety and security of our borders, which, you will agree, is an absolute priority, "concluded Minister Nuhodžić.
