Upon receipt of the information on the ecological incident in the Ćehotina River that caused a large –scale death of the fish, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Milutin Simović discussed the issue with the management of the Electric Power Industry of Montenegro (EPCG) and it was agreed that company will pay damages and allocate necessary funds for the Ćehotina River restocking until the person responsible for this incident is identified.

The Sportfishing Club Lipljen informed the DPM Simović about the death of the fish at a meeting which took place during his working visit to Plužine, attended by the representatives of the EPCG as well. Representatives of the club noted that they are suspicious  that it all happened due to the opening of the valves on the Thermal Power Plant and the discharge of dangerous content. The same day, DPM Simović agreed with the representatives of the EPCG that they will provide assistance and repair the damage until the perpetrator of this crime is identified.

After the notification by the Sportfishing Association, the competent inspectors went out to the field, established the facts and took samples of the fish and water. The precise reason for blurring the river and the death of the fish will be known after the analyses of the samples sent to the Centre for Ecotoxicological Research. We expect that after the identifying the cause and the case processing by the competent authorities, the perpetrator of this crime will be prosecuted and punished properly.
