Podgorica, Montenegro (17 July 2019) -- Prime Minister Duško Marković noted earlier today in the Parliament that EUR 340 million were invested in the development of the northern region last year alone, and that 50 locations are currently active in the north.

PM Marković said that, when it comes to agriculture, out of the total 2018 Agrobudget, more than 50% of the non-refundable support funds targeted the northern region.

The Prime Minister also emphasised the importance of sports development in this area, noting that the Ministry of Sport and Youth has established a service "European Youth Card", which provides 60,000 benefits for young people in 37 countries of Europe.

"Nearly 1,500 young people from the north of Montenegro have received this card to date," the Prime Minister said.

Speaking about the need to advance the administration in the northern region, PM Marković said he is hopeful that the existing administrative apparatus at all levels is more than sufficient for even bigger countries than Montenegro, and that it would be worth discussing its improvement.
