Podgorica, Montenegro (23 July 2019) -- Today's session of the Council for NATO, chaired by Chairman of the Council, Prime Minister Duško Marković, reviewed a set of key documents from the past period in relation to the obligations arising from the membership of Montenegro in the Alliance. It was noted that Montenegro achieved significant results after two years of membership and that, by high-quality and timely fulfillment of obligations within the Alliance, it has proved itself a credible and responsible ally, recognised by all the members of the Alliance.

Within the framework of reviewing the implementation of Montenegro's Political Priorities, the Council noted that successful profiling of our country in the Alliance through the implementation of political priorities is equally important for the process of Montenegro's accession to the European Union.

The Council reviewed the Report on the Implementation of the NATO Crisis Management Exercise - CMX 2019. It was noted that, by considering the existing crisis response system and verifying its compatibility with NATO, and by identifying deficiencies that need to be resolved in the coming period, the exercise showed very effective inter-departmental communication, understanding and knowledge of the NATO crisis response system, and that Montenegro's participation in the CMX 2019 can be considered successful.

Today's meeting also discussed the Report on the completion of the integration process, and it was concluded that NATO's assessment that Montenegro could fully complete the process of integration in all areas this year because it has reached full integration, is enough to be extremely satisfied at the national level with the achievements so far in the context of membership.

As the fourth item on the agenda, the Council considered the Implementation of the Action Plan for the 2019 Communication Strategy for NATO. It was concluded that the Strategy is being implemented successfully, and that the Communication Team has taken all measures to successfully continue this process in the future. The Council for NATO praised the successful launch of the "WeAreNATO" campaign, being conducted by Montenegro, with the support of partners from the United Kingdom, in order for the domestic public to get better acquainted with the activities undertaken by the country as a NATO member and to position Montenegro as a successful ally.
