Minister Bošković meets with General Lanata: ACT support is significantly important for Montenegro’s integration process

Podgorica, Montenegro (23 July 2019) -- Defence Minister Predrag Bošković met today with Commander of the Alliance Transformation Command (ACT), General André Lanata.
Minister Boškovic emphasised the importance of supporting this allied command, based in Norfolk, USA, for the process of Montenegro's integration into NATO, in particular through the activities of the Accession and Integration Working Group (AIWG).
He stressed its importance for the overall security of the Euro-Atlantic community, especially in the area of coordinating the adaptation of the military structure, strength, capacity and doctrine of the Alliance in fulfilling the key missions of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Minister Boškovic said that the importance of this command is even greater given the security challenges facing the Euro-Atlantic community.
He also pointed out that Montenegro consciously follows and implements NATO policies, at the same time promoteing the idea of Euro-Atlantic future of the entire Western Balkan region. He added that the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro will continue to train its personnel at the NATO School in Oberammergau, as well as other training centres under the ACT command.
General Lanata congratulated Minister Bošković on bringing to an end Montenegro's integration process into NATO. He spoke about the most important activities of the Command, stressing that the ultimate goal is to create a basis for the Alliance to adequately respond to all security threats.
The ACT Commander concluded that Montenegro has had a responsible approach to fulfilling obligations and adapting the national defence system to NATO standards, highlighting it as an example that should be followed by other countries in the region.
General Lanata is paying a visit to Montenegro on the occasion of ending the country's integration process.
