Published on: May 16, 2006 • 10:35 PM Author: Naslovna strana
Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic met in Podgorica today with personal envoy of the EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy, Ambassador Miroslav Lajcak.
In an open and purposeful discussion, Ambassador Lajcak conveyed the views of the EU General Affairs and External Relations Council regarding the referendum process in Montenegro and expressed the expectation that European standards and commonly accepted rules would be observed in its final stage. He expressed satisfaction with the atmosphere in which the referendum process was being carried out and pointed out that he believed the result of the referendum in itself, whatever it might be, would signify the victory of European policy in Montenegro.
Prime Minister Djukanovic agreed with these observations and said that the local public, Brussels and the international community as a whole should expect nothing but pro-European action, both before and after May 21 referendum.
Ambassador Lajcak announced his next visit to Montenegro for May 21, the day of the referendum.
