Minister of Science Dr. Sanja Damjanović met today with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Montenegro, H.E. Alison Kemp, and Director of the British Council in Montenegro, Vanja Madžgalj.
The occasion for the visit of Ambassador Kemp was to deliver an invitation to Minister Damjanović to attend a three-day Education World Forum, which is to take place in London in January next year, with “One generation – what does it take to transform education?” as the theme of the event. Participants of the Forum, which is a closed event (attended by official invitation only), are ministers of education, science and technology, given that the areas of science and technology are closely related to education. On the third day of the Forum, the world’s leading education technology show – BETT will be organised. Director of the British Council in Montenegro, Vanja Madžgalj, pointed out that the British Council was a co-organiser of the event, along with the UK’s Department for Education, as well as that Montenegro had been represented in the renowned event for three years in a row already. Furthermore, she took the opportunity to ask Minister Damjanović, who is recognised as a woman leader in science and education in Montenegro and the region, to take part and to be one of the speakers in the Forum, which the Minister gladly accepted.

The visit of the British Ambassador to Montenegro to the Ministry of Science was also used for presentation of the key activities of the Ministry, such as the implementation of the project for the establishment of the first Science and Technology Park in Podgorica, or the implementation of the Support Programme for Innovative Start-ups. In the forthcoming period, focus will especially be placed on providing support to youth in Montenegro to engage in the innovation processes, both through expert support and support in equipment and modelling of adequate programmes in this area. An additional opportunity for cooperation was identified in supporting the transformation of the region towards digitalisation and technological improvement through the future activities of the UK’s Good Governance Fund.
In addition to Minister Damjanović, the meeting was, on behalf of the Ministry of Science, also attended by Branka Žižić, Acting Director General of the Directorate for Innovation and Technological Development and Smilja Kažić Vujačić, Head of the Section for International Cooperation and European Integration.
