Ministers Vučinović and Nuhodžić visited Igor Tomkić in Berane: We are here to forward a message from the Government that Montenegro is your country that will protect you

Ministers Marija Vučinović and Mevludin Nuhodžić visited today the Croat Igor Tomkić, who was attacked on previous days and expressed the full support of the Government and arranged for urgent material assistance for the reconstruction of the facility that was set on fire.

"The atmosphere that led to this case in Berane has been contributed by certain individuals with retrograde ideas and nationalistic strivings, which is unacceptable and dangerous, and the state of Montenegro will not allow it" - said Minister Nuhodžić.

He said that he and Minister Vučinović were in Berane in order to encourage the Tomkić family and sent them a message from the Government that Montenegro is their country that will protect them.

"The attack on the Tomkić family is an attack on Montenegro, a multi-ethnic and multi-religious country, and these values are Montenegro's biggest treasure, which is recognised in the region and beyond," the Minister said. He added that state institutions will do everything to discover the perpetrators and those who ordered this abominable and cowardly act, to bring them to justice and to be strictly sanctioned. We will also, the Minister said, determine the responsibility for possible omissions in the protection of the Tomkić family.

"Montenegro knew to respond to such challenges even when it was weaker. Montenegro is strong and will be strong enough to respond to this act. In Montenegro, nobody is and will not be able to achieve their goals with violence and vandalism, "said Minister Nuhodžić.

Minister Vučinović said that she visited the Tomkić family as a member of the Government, but also as a fellow national of the Tomkić family.

"I urge not only the state institutions, but also local institutions, local government and the entire society," said Minister Vučinović, adding that at yesterday's session the Government made a decision to urgently help the Tomkić family in order to repair material damage, and the Tomkić family returned to everyday life.

Igor Tomkić said that the visit by two ministers encourages him and gives him hope that he will be able to deal with his problems and that he will continue to live normally. "
